Bodenham English Wines from historic Broadfield Court are produced by private family winery on the Broadfield Court Estate, Bowley Lane, Bodenham, Herefordshire, HR1 3LG.

The gardens and vineyard are free to enter in the hopes that people will like it so much that they will stay and have refreshments, and hopefully, buy wine.

Started in 1971 when an experimental fifty vines were planted by Keith James, the founder, with an additional five hundred Reichensteiner vines being planted in 1972, continuing until the planned expansion programme was completed and covered seventeen acres of Broadfield’s finest south-facing slopes. The vines which have proved to flourish best include Huxelrebe, Müller-Thurgau, Seyve Villard and Madeleine Angevine as well as the original Reichensteiner.

After the grapes are processed, the pure juice is siphoned into Broadfield’s own vats where it is fermented and bottled the following year. Maturing well in the bottle, the wines settle down after the first few months and continue to develop over a number of years, to be ranked today with the best traditions of elegant English wines.

The original varieties of Müller-Thurgau and Reichensteiner have now been joined by Seyve Villard (medium dry), Huxelrebe, Pinot Noir (for the Rosé) and Madeleine Angevine, producing singly and in blends the 6 wines currently on the Bodenham English Wine list.

Broadfield Court offer wine tasting tours including lunches, teas and suppers for up to 50 people. You will be given a tour of the vineyard and gardens, a tasting of our wines and a glass of your favourite wine with a lunch or supper. We also welcome coach tours and other group holiday specialists for wine-tasting tours without meals - please call our office for details.

The Broadfield Court Wine & Gift Shop is open daily from 10.30 until 15:30-ish in Winter, they are open 10:00 until 16.30-ish from Easter through the Summer. Closed Christmas/New Year.

HUXELREBE '06 11% Vol English Regional Wine
Huxelrebe for hedonistic indulgence, this smooth wine subtly captures the harvest warmth from the south facing slopes on which its mother grapes are grown. Zesty and ripe, with an almost nutty flavour, this old-vine vintage will linger lazily on the palate while proving a spectacular accompaniment to almost any dish.

REICHENSTEINER '04 11% Vol English Regional Wine
Reichensteiner is a superb aperitif. This crisp, delicate wine is also versatile enough to be enjoyed with white meats as well as any sea or river fish. Madeline Angevine '05 11% Vol English Regional Wine
A rounded, full-bodied yet delicate wine echoing evocative scents of an English garden; this barrel fermented new-comer delivers a depth of flavour that is as delicious as it is distinctive. Terrific with poultry or fish, it also teams smoothly with many desserts and is simply special just on its own.

ESTATE WINE '07 11% Vol English Regional Wine
This smooth, balanced wine in the Broadfield's repertoire shows a skilful expertise in the blending and has resulted in a saucy youthfulness so appreciated by an expanding audience of new-world wine admirers. Vibrant and racy, yet pleasingly rounded on the tongue, this wine yields a light floral aroma which will complement every occasion.

Rose '08 11% Vol English Regional Wine
Having been such a big success since its introduction 3 years ago, Broadfield's Rose is now a mainstay of our wine selection. Made from our own Pinot Noir grapes, our delicious dry Rose is blended with a mixture of our white grapes at pressing time and evolves into a refreshing and fruity experience. Serve chilled.

BROADFIELD COURT '06 10% Vol English Regional Wine
New to Broadfield in 2006. This delicious medium-sweet blend of Broadfield grapes is rich and smooth, a warming honey wine with a pleasing aroma and apricot undertones. Idea as an aperitif or compliment to savoury canapés and country pate, it will also please those who prefer a sweeter wine to drink on its own.

Broadfield Court Sparkling '06
Made in the traditional bottle fermented method, this stylish, highly agreeable wine is worthy of enjoyment on any occasion.
