Wine Review - Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut - Non Vintage

The winemakers of Duval-Leroy, Vertus, France have created a passable dry champagne wine from chardonnay and pinot noir grapes

We enjoyed our bottle of Champagne Duval-Leroy Brut, that showed a light honey colour, with streams of aggressive bubbles. On the nose, there is a sharp yeastiness - a fairly intriguing glass of Champagne overall, pleasing but did not seem distinctive or memorable.

Spirit of the Wine said: "The palate shows a clean middle, evenly balanced of weight and acids. Flavors are of off-dry pineapple, toast and slight cream. Very clean finish. Three stars out of five." We however didn't quite get the pineapple - more acetone. Maybe it should have been even colder!

Seal - Champagne cork.

Cellaring: Best enjoyed within 12 months of purchase.

Price - Around £25.00 at Sainsbury's

12.0 vol - 750ml - 0.0 UK units - contains sulphites
